System change tackling violence against women and girls
We are an independent, cross-sectoral reform project working to build a simpler, more effective response to violence against women and girls through infrastructure, investment, and innovation.
Delivering sustainable reforms that help the system prevent harm earlier, strengthen capacity, and enable continuous adaptation.
Our Mission
We are creating the conditions for system change.
Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is an endemic harm with catastrophic consequences for gender equality. Although the UK is a global leader in the field, our current system is failing to reduce harm. Structural weaknesses in the operating environment mean even excellent ideas and services can struggle to make an impact.
RIVA exists to change this, by creating a shared platform to catalyse transformation across the system.
What we do
Our work focuses on three core areas:
Infrastructure
Helping build a system that is more accountable, co-ordinated, and better able to adapt and learn for long-term reform.
Investment
Working with funders and policymakers to support forms of investment that create lasting infrastructure and stronger prevention.
Innovation
Supporting local and regional systems to test, adapt, and grow more effective approaches to preventing and responding to harm.
