Violence Against Women and Girls: where do we go from here?

Published following the Government’s new VAWG strategy, this second article in an annual series for Civil Service World, reflects on the state of the system as implementation of the strategy begins. It explores some of the structural barriers limiting progress, including fragmented infrastructure, weak prevention capacity, and the absence of long-term reform mechanisms.
Drawing on perspectives from across policy and frontline practice, the article argues that delivering meaningful change will require a broader focus on system capability, investment, perpetrator responses, and institutional reform alongside support for victims.
